The spring is in the air. We are all enjoying new clothes and fresh flowers. Do you know that flower arrangement is closely related to Fengshui (Feng Shui)? This is not surprising when you think about the fact that color can also be characterized by the five-element. This year is metal and earth. The spring has the character of wood. During spring time, both the metal and earth elements in the year is weaken by the wood. This is why many people get so sick this spring. If wood is your element, you are one of the lucky few. If not, try a little bit creative flower arrangement to help you and your loved ones. The water is the easy part. For metal, fire and earth here are some examples:

Metal element: Vase with metal element: either an antique Chinese bronze vase or a modern steel vase are great choice. You can find them in any museum gift store. Aqua blue is the color of metal element. I have seen that blue-white vase getting quite popular in some interior decor stores. With or without flowers, they can be decorative to your home.
Fire element: the fire element is easiest to achieve by using color. Red is the color of fire element. Use a lot of red flowers and limit the amount of green because color green belongs to wood element. South belongs to fire element. If you need a lots of fire, arrange your flower such that the tallest one is on the south.
Earth element; In the home improvement store or your local nursery, you can find inexpensive ceramic flower pot (not fine china) that has good earth element.  Earth element is related with color yellow. A pot of daffodil is wonderful source of earth element for your home. Oranges are great source of earth element too!
I am sure you can come up with your own ideas. Enjoy the spring and have fun!
